How to Lower Your LDL Cholesterol

With marinara sauce!

yes, it's TRUE.

Why? Lycopene!

It works to lower your cholesterol -- at least your LDLs

So, don't just use a good marinara on pasta...put it on warm breads, pizza (of course), even over meats... to add a fun taste and to help your heart stay healthy!

Don't like marinara (or tomatoes) -- try a supplement with a healthy dose of lycopene!

Suggestions on Winter Vitamins

Ok, so I know I usually post about what's working for me in the vitamin department. I know I use Vitamin C and b12 in the Winter for colds, etc.

But, I'm wondering what else is out there that works...what else can I use to combat sore throat, mild aches, and the colds that come with cooler weather?

How do you slow down aging?

With lemon juice!

A natural way to slow down the aging effects of animal-derived foods. Such foods contain compounds which contribute to the aging process -- but lemon juice helps break down those compounds.

So, whether it's beef, chicken, pork or even fish - add a squeeze or two of lemon juice while you cook to help slow the aging process.

How to Have More Energy

If you want more energy - especially as the weather turns cooler and the sun shines less, you may need a vitamin boost.

Here's how I get more energy.

First, I normally take a 500 mcg b12 pill every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning. I do this to get an extra boost of energy on those days and to keep me running smooth -- I also do it for its metabolic enhancing benefits.

Last week, however, I noticed problems with a sore throat/infection. I started taking b12 everyday. Not only did my throat feel better fast, but also I've had MUCH more energy. I'm going to bed at 11 and getting up by 5 (normally, it'd be 10:30 and 6). And I feel great.

Plus, I'm maintaining a good weight in spite of some Holiday eating.

The other addition is Vitamin D. You don't get as much when its not sunny out -- so, you need MORE. I've probably taken one every other day -- but, it seems to be both helping my throat issue AND making me feel better overall.

So, if you need some energy and maybe a metabolic boost, try some b12.

How to Cure a Throat Infection

The simple answer: A flood of vitamins.

More specifically, Vitamin C.

I noticed my head felt foggy and I had that achey, I'm getting a cold feeling on Tuesday of last week.

I took some extra C and went on with my planned travel. I also was able to get a bit of extra rest thanks to my schedule.

But, by Friday, I had a tickle in my throat that I feared meant trouble. Sure enough, on Saturday morning, I woke to a sore throat that was very red and irritated. Thankfully, no fever. But, clearly, an infection that could have gotten worse.

Instead, I drank a second glass of Cranberry-Grape Juice (120% of your daily allowance of C in a single glass) and took a B12 (I usually only take B12 on Monday/Wednesday/Friday for an energy boost).

About two hours later, I took a chewable Vitamin C supplement and a Vitamin D3. You don't get enough Vitamin D in winter (lack of sun) and most people are Vitamin D deficient anyway. So, I took the extra D as an immune system booster -- knowing that C and D together could help fight off the infection.

Again on Saturday night, I took a chewable C and a Vitamin D pill.

I woke on Sunday with a much milder throat infection. By today, I'm feeling fine. A hint of redness, but my body is responding and fighting back.

This is the type of infection that can give your body fits for a week or more. But, with vitamins and some rest, I've managed to relegate it to a mere weekend inconvenience.

Biotin...

I think it is helping me keep my hair. I'm not sure, but it does seem to be growing pretty fast... not much "new" coverage, really...but the hair I have grows at a very healthy rate which helps establish and maintain decent coverage...so, that's a plus.

I take it 2-3 times a day.
